2nd Time Around: How Springfield-Greene Utilizes Wix Studio
Overview: A Wix Studio-created website that allows library staff to update everyday resources while also keeping library patrons up-to-date on resources, new releases, events, and services.
Problem: Springfield-Greene Public Library is present in several languages and locations, but it’s current website isn’t easy to update for people with limit tech knowledge.
Solution: Revamp the website to built in Wix Studio and prioritize design systems, or pre-designed sections, colors, fonts, etc., that would make the website easier to develop and maintain post-launch.

Researching Libraries and Realizing the Museum Layouts Could Work Better
As the second library site, the first being North Vancouver District Public Library, a lot of the preliminary research into Wix Studio was done. From that research I found that most library sites have a cluttered feel, so we wanted to find a more minimalist but colorful way to display large amounts of content. The closest comparison is museums, i.e., MoMA, Guggenheim, and The MET.
Since we wanted the website to have a high level of accessibility, we made it a point that the font sizes didn’t go smaller than 10pt to account for the visually-impaired and the elderly and that a minimum AA color contrast standard are met. The design used the same text, buttons, and color palette from the existing pages, but I did add some greys and the black the balance out the color palette.

Templated World Begins to Take Shape
Templates were created on my end in Figma to build out pages in Wix Studio. I pulled from the limitations list I had from the initial meetings, the project managers had with the Wix Studio team on the Wix Studio updates compared to the traditional Wix.
Customs pages in a Templated World
The custom pages designed in Figma use some of the colors, fonts, and styling of the templates designed, but they also add in some sections that weren't previously created.
Early Planning is Always A Good Idea
For designing the pages for Springfield-Greene Public Libraries, I wanted to create layouts, fonts, and colors early, so I could have an idea about what I wanted to use as I went through each page. Having these sections already created made the process a lot more seamless for me and easier for the developer, or engineer, to create in Wix Studio.
