Open to Work

Curiosity about life, creativity, learning, and cultures has driven me to continually improve and build empathy. My early love for art led to a B.A. in Studio Art (Digital Art) from the University of Alabama. In my free time, I sold ceramics and paintings through an artist co-op, contributed to student films as a production/set designer, and began freelance design—creating print materials, social media posts, branding, and a website.

Later, I decided to go to grad school to build on my design skills and got my M.F.A. in Communications Design, which focused on branding, UX design, design thinking, and more from my dream school at the time, Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY). This was also where I built out a podcast that I hosted, designed, and produced, The Chronicles of Black Female Sexuality Podcast, or CBFS Podcast for short. CBFS Podcast shuts down stereotypes around black female sexuality by increasing sexual representation and diving deep into cultural influences.

After graduation, I took on several jobs while continuing to freelance. I interned at Black Film Space and landed my first full-time role as a UX and visual designer at Studio Mosaic, working in graphic design, UX design, and a little front-end development. There, I collaborated with cross-functional teams, helped shape products from start to finish, and learned how to assess project feasibility and value. Working with a variety of clients and products helped me realize my true passion is in UX and product design.

Since focusing on the field of product design, I have seen more alignment between my past experiences and how they were already leading me towards this career shift. My background in graphic design, business, and customer service has enabled me to understand users, stakeholders, and the importance of cross-functional communication. For me, design starts with inclusivity and clarifying how we can better serve our communities.

As my journey continues, I’m still learning and enjoying the process of creating products and experiences that help people understand and connect with themselves and those around them. Moving forward, I am committed to using design as a catalyst for meaningful, inclusive change.
